@aesthr@wandering.shop Sure it leads to problems when both worlds clash together. But isn't it a bit too simple to just blame the 'foreign' one? Also, higher levels could only apply workarounds. "paris" and "Paris" are two different file names here, and to me as an end user, that's typically not ideal, and no higher level can actually solve that in a clean way. But yeah, I'm fine with it since some decades, I'll be fine with it for the next some. :)

    @pino@social.cologne Of course it can solve that. It even has to, because the case where you encounter a filesystem that does have "paris" and "Paris" in the same directory is a possibility. Making the default filesystem insensitive is purely for the convenience of the OS developers because then they can offload that problem to the user. Like, what do you want to happen when you plug in a USB drive that is formatted case-sensitive and has files that would otherwise clash?
