@pino@social.cologne Of course it can solve that. It even has to, because the case where you encounter a filesystem that does have "paris" and "Paris" in the same directory is a possibility. Making the default filesystem insensitive is purely for the convenience of the OS developers because then they can offload that problem to the user. Like, what do you want to happen when you plug in a USB drive that is formatted case-sensitive and has files that would otherwise clash?

    @aesthr@wandering.shop Yeah, also true... Maybe consider them as "legacy filesystems" and deal with them in a special way... ^^ That's probably what Windows Explorer would say it does. No, idk... My personal IT is solely case sensitive filesystems (beyond /boot/EFI I guess?!) and it's okay. I just couldn't say it's ideal for me as an end user, though. For humans "paris" and "Paris" typically IS the same... But beyond being a nerd, I never really cared a lot about it... It's okay.
