@meena@cathode.church By having an 'open' but non 'free' license, you can tell corporation X, sure you can use it IF you pay us $x/year. During that time you are free to use the software in your product. The project gets money, nobody has to sue anybody unless they fail to pay after signing the contract. You can tell user Y, sure you can use this software without fee. Apriori control of use is the difference here.

    @meena@cathode.church You might be surprised that many, if not most, companies would PREFER that option than the current mish-mash of FOSS licenses.
