i dont know how household energy contracts work in other countries, but here in the netherlands you can have contracts that are marketprices or contractually set prices for a fixed period (1, 2 or 3 years usually). HIGHLY recommended to set fixed prices for as long of a time as possible and to do this ASAP

just to spell it out explicitly: around 20% of global energy supply went *poof*, and now that Hormuz is getting mined that supply aint getting back to original levels for months, and thats the positive scenario like, this is catastrophically bad, prepare accordingly, imagine its like its februari 2020
