watching those trailers again and I genuinely think they are the two best looking 2D sprite based JRPGs ever made. Falcom are the absolute masters of that style, and the series has never has the same appeal to me since they went 3D with Cold Steel
give me HD2D remakes, dammit!

@COMPU73E@retro.pizza I've said it before, but these feel like Saturn games that never released outside of Japan. And that's is meant as the best possible compliment.

@COMPU73E@retro.pizza While I agree that the chibi style in the early Trails games are amazing the problem for me with the 3D in the Cold Steel games, at least the 1st one, is that is still feels like it is an early transition to full 3D. It doesn't help that the game also changed a lot of game mechanics and the plot in the first game feels like a slow burn. I am hoping that the later entries will look and feel better, both in terms of graphics, gameplay and pacing.
