shortfall. So, closing this school is complete, performative bullshit. Looking through the budget published by PUSD on their website, it seems very clear that. They have to spend something like $150 million a year on restricted students. That is to say, students where the money must be used for their needs only primarily special ed and students that don't speak English and who knows what else. But the revenues are like $70M, half of what's needed.

The fact of the matter is that if you're not looking at the restricted budget, everything else basically comes out with revenue equaling cost. So there's absolutely no reason to close any schools, at least any high schools. They have already something like 11 empty campuses because student enrollment has been declining for 25 years. They're doing absolutely nothing with these empty campuses and they're proposing to make more empty campuses.
