Attachment theory has been pretty helpful for me, though it has its flaws... It has helped me label and own my patterns, which has helped me gain agency over some of them (ongoing process!). However: one thing that bugs me a lot about it, is there's a _lot_ around parental blame. The finger is usually pointed at the mother, less often the father. In my case? It was school. My teachers, who spent 6 hours a day with me damaged me psychologically in ways I'm still recovering from today.
