@the_wiggler@mastodon.social @rail_@bark.lgbt I (straight) was surprised when a queer friend grumbled about the lgbtqia+ community not being inclusive...Of straights.
One: it's not even in the name, and not the point of the community,
Two: I've never met a person in the community who despised straights by default and _literally attacked them_, while the inverse can't be said.
No one is at pride marches stopping straights from attending. I don't know what's more inclusive than letting everyone participate.

@b4ux1t3@hachyderm.io ur 2nd point doesn't rly stand bc ofc marginalisation doesn't go both ways idt if it’s inclusivity as much as community self-understanding: if there's no space for straight people then we rob ppl of that common curious stage of the closet before it even becomes questioning. ofc assimilation is not the way, dedicated gay spaces are good. but having straight ppl welcome and not the focus often helps those straight ppl who want to be there to realise maybe they're not so straight or cis
