@b4ux1t3@hachyderm.io ur 2nd point doesn't rly stand bc ofc marginalisation doesn't go both ways idt if it’s inclusivity as much as community self-understanding: if there's no space for straight people then we rob ppl of that common curious stage of the closet before it even becomes questioning. ofc assimilation is not the way, dedicated gay spaces are good. but having straight ppl welcome and not the focus often helps those straight ppl who want to be there to realise maybe they're not so straight or cis

  • @b4ux1t3@hachyderm.io (also I would echo jess's reply that if someone is expressing this grumbling about an insufficiently inclusive gay community there's probably something going on for them and, as with all people, deserve that surprising position to be met with some curiosity toward empathy. I hope they spend lots more time in lots more varied gay places and less time online and realise there's always been straight people in gay places, there's no issue there in most established gay places/groups)
