I don't post often but I thought it worth mentioning cheques.
Once upon a time they were common, so common we had an MICR reader for logging the details and also scan both sides as standard. We had a whole system, as you would expect.
These days, no, sorry. Local bank branch closed. No staff "taking cheques to bank" every day. Now it is a couple a year.
We have ways to handle them, but they are hassle, so we charge an admin fee. Since 2024 this is £50+VAT.
Please bear this in mind.

@aaisp@social.aa.net.uk Remembering back ~20 years when we were running a small online business. (very low value stuff, like 99p each.) Used to accept cheques, and postal orders, which were annoying but necessary at the time. Even cash. (Still have 40 USD notes in a drawer from that period.) Wouldn't even consider it nowadays, although the last time we had to deal with a cheque (few years ago, refund from Motability) I discovered our banks App allowed me to pay it in just by photographing it! That was handy.

@aaisp@social.aa.net.uk Understandable, but something of a shame, I feel. Not all "progress" is good progress. Maybe I'm just showing my age.
