Housing is overly privatized and the financial sector is overdependent upon it for profits. This is why we have a housing crisis. The YIMBYs and Abundance people pretend that these are not the problems and that "planning" is the problem. The result of the deregulatory agenda pushed by industry front groups like CA YIMBY is ironically a more fucked up planning process due to the conflicts that bills like SB330 create when they empower developers to push profit maximization even further. On top of this the underlying problems of homelessness and unaffordability persist and deepen.
