@keyboardpipette@genomic.social you do know that interrail works in the UK and is the cheapest way to travel on the UK rail network?

@quixoticgeek@social.v.st @keyboardpipette@genomic.social Seconded - get an interrail pass to cover the number of days you will be travelling. This will give you a LOT more flexibility and will almost certainly save you money. Very few UK trains require reservations so with an interrail pass you've pretty much got the freedom of the entire network without the aggravation of cheap but inflexible Advance Tickets, or (very) expensive but flexible Anytime fares. The exceptions are trains run by the private operators Lumo and Grand Central ( and possibly Hull Trains). Interrail is accepted on the London Elizabeth Line but NOT London Underground (It should be ok on Overground but staff don't always know that). Interrail cannot be used on the expensive & pointless Heathrow Express. Plan your journeys on any of the apps - I use the LNER or CrossCountry apps. The official Network Rail app works but the separate apps are a lot better. Do not use Trainline - they charge fees on top of the fare unlike other apps.
