Ways I have uncovered critical show-stopping #security flaws:
1. Someone in marketing off-handedly mentioned something odd in their open source install of our software.
2. I ran standup for new team and heard a dev describe a feature I wasn't familiar with, so I asked 1 question.
3. I skimmed the code of an app we'd acquired before I started, but no one had inspected, because I had a feeling.
4. Someone in support noticed a user with an odd name and mentioned it in Slack.

No one in a company wants to admit that your feelings are important. I have often been told not to trust my feelings, because others know better. Luckily, I'm terrible at listening and my feelings are louder than theirs.
