Talking about AI is complicated but this particular talking point always gets me... > At Meta, Google, Microsoft, and others, leadership says that AI generates a growing share of the overall code, which makes it cheaper and faster to produce. The total disconnect...just going back to judging planes by weight. How many kLOC did you write this quarter? Like the problem space is simply that "more code needs to exist"

@cda@macaw.social yeah and also discount that all three of them will be trying to sell you ~chuckle cheese coins~ “tokens” of output, and that LLMS bias writing new tokens/code, as you mention in judging planes by weight. There definitely are interesting aspects to me about them, I just haven’t had many forums for having nuanced conversations with people more in the middle rather than people who have picked a side

@cda@macaw.social It's like, I've seen some generated code, higher quality than most AI generated, but it's just endless else-if lists, repeated in every function. Reuse? Refactoring? We've heard of them.
