What is anno 2026 better for instant messaging? Think about the best combination of user experience/friendliness, privacy and security. I choose these two after researching decentralized Whatsapp/Signal alternatives.

@joeneXtra@todon.eu generally speaking, I'm not sure. On one hand, XMPP on android is fucking amazing: Conversations is a fucking masterpiece -- a chef's kiss -- of software development and UI/UX. On the other hand XMPP on IOS is beyond garbage it just throws the option of XMPP away. On the contrary, deltachat is the same across on both instances, from notifications to the UI. Although DC are still working on phone calling, Its still impressive nonetheless that they are doing it on email encryption.
