    Simple solution that would at least give an off ramp is to phase out benefits over something like a 3:1 ratio. e.g. you lose $1 of benefits for every $3 earned above the threshold. This doesn’t satisfy the anti welfare crowd, because it is an expansion of gibs, but it does allow a path off the system for those so inclined. I think it would be worth trying in a few states, as it may reduce total welfare dollars. Logic is you can’t go from part time to store manager without something in between that makes you a net loser in pay short term under current setup.
