Found out today that my mobile carrier blocks some stuff as soon as I try to stop using their DNS. Customer support did a very polite but firm "can't help you, go away" routine when I asked after trying to blame it on the apps (their own app is affected, so it was kinda funny). Unfortunately switching isn't really realistic, because all other carriers fall short in some aspect by comparison (and I also can't find any carrier that volunteers the info if they freely let you use other DNS servers)
