Over the weekend we hosted a “dugnad” together with our friends at Hudd (a Norwegian social network) and @protonprivacy. A dugnad is a Norwegian gem of a word meaning communal work. As in &quot;this job is too big for one person, but if we all pitch in, it won’t be so bad&quot;. The Digital Dugnad is about helping each other switch away from Big Tech and dumping them in the trash. We are honored and overwhelmed by the response! Huge thank you to all of the volunteers who hosted dugnads all over Norway from north (almost close to the North Pole!) to south. @Vivaldi@social.vivaldi.net Yaknow, with y'all's built-in translation, I don't even need to read Norwegian! And yes, you should do other countries! The whole EU needs to ditch Big Tech and use stuff that's built by us, for us.

@Vivaldi@social.vivaldi.net Interesting, I am trying something similar, by showing people how to use uBlock and set slightly more reasonable privacy options in the apps they use. But yes, we need more tech literacy and resources to help people.

@protonprivacy@mastodon.social @Vivaldi@social.vivaldi.net Hudd, the private, centralised social network demanding ID (vipps) and is only available on Google Play? Needs Vipps (Banking system) and Google accounts? I'm not sure you're helping people get away from big tech. Sorry to see.
