but, seriously, what i failed to properly articulate, is that i don't think any of this is a bad thing! no text search helps prevent harassment, chronological timeline is what i want! it's just that i have to get used to the fact that this place is different, in mostly good ways. ^^

Seriously though, I do think full text search has value. Especially if indexation is user-controlled. I hope this will be coming, for the reasons you cite.

Shouldn't you (as the person posting the toot) be able to opt into that? (ephemeral & unsearchable is fine as the default.)
