@cocoafrog@hachyderm.io the problem i've found with 3rd party apps isn't the app, it's the integration. Working with my iCloud account is an absolute must-have for me, but the underlying API is so pathetically anemic and lacking features that you can't actually write anything worthwhile using it; the EventKit and Contacts frameworks feel just as abandoned as the apps themselves. Again no meaningful improvement or additions in years.

@davedelong@mastodon.social right, if I ever did this, I would have tried to build it on top of the system contacts database so it‘s still in iCloud and all the other system integration. Yeah those frameworks are not better maintained but with those it might ar least be possible to work around issues and put a reasonable API on top of them?
