@tezoatlipoca@mas.to @yosh@toot.yosh.is It was quite telling that when Boeing started prioritising finances over engineering, they reduced the redundancy in their aircraft and the planes fell out of the sky. (Apparently the Max scandal was caused by cost-saving software that depended on a single sensor.) Modern corporate culture seems to be all about destroying long term stability for the sake of short term profits. Future generations are not considered at all, they do not appear on any business plan.

The MCAS was a workaround to prevent entirely new airframe recertification due to using new engines - $dodge #1 MCAS wasn't tied to ALL appropriate sensors, only one or two - $dodge #2 when MCAS engages it overrides pilot input; the alarms to indicate this is happening were made $optional - $dodge #3 1/
