Anyway, inconsistent UIs are the inevitable consequence of cross-platform apps being a thing.
And frankly, we're better off with inconsistent-looking cross-platform apps than we were in the bad old days with *no* cross-platform apps.

@wilfredh@mastodon.social There have been some attempts to make cross-platform UI toolkits that look native, like Swing and wxWidgets, but the consensus seems to be that it's just too hard and not worth the effort to make such a toolkit. Although Windows now has half a dozen different native look-and-feels all at once, and Linux has almost as many. Kinda hard to look native when there's no such thing as native.
