@deathkitten I know--there are many many reasons. My students, like most college students, are being pressured to use it, not be &quot;afraid&quot; of it, and I keep finding that aesthetic disgust is the only thing that seems to break through sometimes.

@carrideen@c18.masto.host @deathkitten@firetribe.org The best and most effective way to ‘not be afraid of AI’ is by instilling an understanding of the creative process, of methodologies, of philosophical perspectives, educational pedagogies, etc… … then they can can confidently recognise the pros and (mostly) cons of AI. And explain coherently why they purposefully decide not the use AI, and it’s not out of fear. p.s. there’s a great article on The Guardian by MIT creative writer lecturer, Micah Nathan.

AIs have proven *SO* expensive that they need some heavy misinformation to make them sound like a good idea. No present-day AI can create, or imagine, or even understand, anything, especially not MEANING. They can only search and precis what's already there in their database. But people think they 'understand', and are 'intelligent', not realising that they're designed to *APPEAR* intelligent...
