A project I've been working on triggered me into thinking about #penguins. Not the paperbacks. Not the biscuits. The old-boots-tough, smartly-dressed flightless #birds of the southern oceans. I thought I'd paint a sheet of them to refamiliarize myself with their variety and loveliness. 🐧 This Chinstrap is this morning's quick splash from my #sketchbook just to work out colours and labels. 🐧 Me sketching the African penguins on the beach in South Africa, in 2007. Back when I had a decent head of hair. 🐧 There's an active breeding colony of #Humboldt penguins at London Zoo which we visited in 2013. Perhaps you've seen them? 🐧 Seeing endangered Yellow-Eyed penguins were one of the highlights of our trip to New Zealand in 2009. If you don't love penguins, seek professional help!
