I beat 4th gym in #pokemon platinum now, which was fighting types. I don't think I understand dual typing. I used Meditite against Lucario; the psychic move confuse was ineffective but using force palm (a fighting move Lucario was using against me) was super effective. I am not sure if I actually like this game/series yet. It has a great bestiary, but also has tons of balance and game design problems too. Of course, I am also a grown-ass adult playing by myself, when it was intended to be played socially, swapping monsters, secrets, etc. #NintendoDS #nds

@scribblemacher@mstdn.games it’s because Lucario is a fighting/steel type Pokemon, and steel resists psychic attacks while fighting is weak to it. So, psychic moves will do normal damage. However, fighting doesn’t resist fighting attacks, while steel types are weak to them. Hence steel type moves did super effective damage.

@scribblemacher@mstdn.games To me, this series combines a collectathon with a sense of exploring the world with your pals. The RPG battles are mostly a vehicle for the monsters to express themselves and feel a sense of progression/growth. Most of the individual elements don't hold up to scrutiny and deteriorated after a certain point in the series, but the combination of all of it is something few games replicate as nicely. I don't think you'll change your mind but I'd still recommend finishing it :)
