The stock firmware was hilariously bad from what i've heard, and only recent updates made it barely passable. The one cfw that was released for it made it actually suitable for DS play due to optimizations they baked into the DS emulator. But the biggest letdown was that the RGDS had underpowered hardware, and apparently a shit battery to boot.
It's only saving grace is that it's only like 100 bucks, but that's too much for something that can barely emulate the thing it was made for, requiring a cfw to save its ass.

@fristi@56k.dile-up.nl @kura@hai.z0ne.social @hj@shigusegubu.club Yeah. I hear the RG DS with cfw is decent enough, but it can't properly emulate the more demanding games. Honestly if they made an "RG DS Pro" for like $50 extra that had integer-scale 1024x768 screens, a better SoC and good controls, I'd probably jump on it.
