@whot@floss.social hell yeaaaahhh nice!! I wrote https://codeberg.org/valpackett/evscript back in the day as a daemon for doing keyboard stuff like "shifts as parentheses" and "capslock as both ctrl and escape" on the evdev-uinput level (without the ability to cancel original events! but that's enough for that use case!) and there are other similar daemons around.. very cool that no daemon will be required anymore to do this \o/
