Team, riddle me this, because this is the third time I've found this weird little political meme and it's both so ahistorical and weird that I've got to ask: The idea that colonizers invented clocks to impose linear time on innocent, free, unscheduled populations and force their bodies into the machine. That linear time and measuring time is a *plot* of some sort. Who started this one? How's this getting passed around in a world of Stonehenge, Babylonian sundials, Egyptian water clocks?
