Yesterday's #CatDuty: Bella found a beetle. I sat in the sofa and worked on publication. After two or three small cat communication murrkshh sounds I stretched to look what's going on. My first thought was that I can't possibly be fast enough to intervene – either Bella will kill it, or it wil on fly away, or it will run under some furniture and hide. AFAIK beatles around here aren't dangerous to cats, but maybe, just maybe it can pinch her and scare a bit. I returned to work with one ear open.

And yet murrkshh... (pause)... murrkshh... (pause)... murrkshh continues. Da hell, I think and set away my laptop. Turns out, that is a flightless beatle and... very inappreciative of the danger cats generally possess to small living things. Bella pokes it very gently with a soft paw (murrksh?), it runs a bit away. Bella pokes it again (murrkshh?), it runs a bit. Once it fell on its back. Bella is very confused non stop. I got up, took the beatle in my palms and let it out of the balcony door.
