@kfogel@kfogel.org I almost hate to be the grump here, given that this gave you pleasure, but at least to my eyes this has all the hallmarks of low-effort bot edits.
Oh well, I guess one aspect of https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Assume_good_faith is that I don't need to think too hard about the exact motive, just whether there were sources and so on.
I stuck https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Template:Welcomeunsourced-t on the user's talk page partly in case they are sincere, but more in case there's a need for a paper trail that they were informed of Wikipedia policies.

@soaproot@sfba.social I think that "assume good faith" guideline may need to get... complexified... in the near future. Yes, this does have all the hallmarks of a bot edit. It's hard for me to figure out the motivation. Thanks for adding the note on their Talk page. I agree -- a paper trail can't hurt.

@kfogel@kfogel.org Oh wait there's a new Wikipedia feature which made me misread this situation somewhat. This isn't an regular account, this is a temporary account ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Temporary_accounts ) which is the current way of handling edits by non-logged-in users (instead of showing an IP address).
