Richard Dawkins has again jumped the shark with his bonkers drivel about Claude, on top of his racist, transphobic, sexist rants. He&#39;s become a caricature of sozzled oxbridge self-obsessed &#39;genius&#39;. As a life-long atheist myself I would love it if more people embraced humanism and believed in our ability to achieve astonishing, good things outside of the hierarchical, dark structures of religion. In general I feel it&#39;s just not something I can even talk about without being associated with his angryman brand of &#39;new atheism&#39; though.

@yaxu@post.lurk.org I was a member of Humanists UK, but cancelled my membership when they platformed Dawkins too much (a few years ago now). *sigh*

@yaxu@post.lurk.org I would say this kind of atheism is just an excuse to make one sleep better at night, without having to process too much about the greed and inhumanity perpetuated through the day. I'm an atheist, but I do believe in the human spirit. Not something mystical or intangible - a spirit that comes within our mind, which every person should constantly hone and shape as life teaches us things. The same kind of spirit that will question what "progress" truly means.
