Then yes, it would be odd were someone to read that as you implying that: "all men are Socrates" But would it be odd to read that as you implying: "Socrates is just a man"

    @robinshipton@writing.exchange @matunos@mastodon.social In mathematical logic, A=>B + C=>B does not mean A=>C nor C=>A. But in conversational logic, the unsaid is also part of the conversation. To introduce into a conversation "A=>B ; C=>B" is to imply the existence of relevant connection between A and C, which you invite the reader to discover.
