โ€œOur community has spent so many years building something of genuine human value: a shared body of knowledge, cultural meaning and careful critique all of which lend considerable discursive depth and richness to what we do. But in the brave new world of Knitting Bullshit, all of that accumulated wisdom, all of the real history of knitting as labour, as resistance, as solidarity, as design intelligence, as craft, is now there simply to provide the powerful emotional currency that AI-generated podcasts and videos cynically mine for profit.โ€ https://katedaviesdesigns.com/2026/04/29/knitting-bullshit/

@jalefkowit@vmst.io I listened to some minutes of a few of these episodes on the site mentioned in the article. It's like Muzak for podcasts. It offends me.

  • @jalefkowit@vmst.io I am not a knitter, but I am a person with an interest in craft, literature, music - you know, stuff that humans create. This concept of AI generated podcasts is so gross and repulsive. I don't understand why people think it's a good idea??? Every day it becomes more difficult to find meaningful information on the Internet. And the way it denigrates and devalues communities that have lovingly come together to share about knitting, gardening or whatever. Just ugh ๐Ÿ‘ฟ ๐Ÿ‘ฟ ๐Ÿ‘ฟ ๐Ÿ‘ฟ ๐Ÿ‘ฟ

@jalefkowit@vmst.io Great article, thanks for sharing. The speed & stolen ease that #AI creates content that appears to have merit but is rife with fabrications, empty socially engineered engagement as well as outright theft, is to me one of the greatest dangers artists of all stripes face today. Genuine history & creativity is being buried under an avalanche of #AiSlop . #Art
