As someone who learned Adobe during a Diploma in 2022, the idea that Adobe used to have a friendly marketing team that did interviews with developers is somewhat unbelievable. The teachers would talk up Adobe as industry standard but behind the scenes, we're all dreading the prospect of the high fees and looking for alternatives.

@travisj@indieweb.social I too was highly invested into Adobe with regard to Photoshop and Illustrator through a ex-employer. I even was a avid follower of Scott Kelby and a subscriber to Photoshop User magazine. I saw the signs around 2010 and then definitely in 2012. I left it all behind as I knew it was going to be a disaster. I'm grateful for apps like GIMP and Inkscape. They have their quarks, but at least I have my freedom and being respected as a user.
