The jump in China's March '26 solar output is roughly equal to all of Spain's installed capacity. That's all of Spain, (an extra ~35GW) every four weeks!
We can reasonably assume that solar equipment orders jumped in response to war-related uncertainty in global oil markets. It is interesting to see that there was substantial *latent* demand for solar equipment.
There was 35GW of discretionary purchasing that was likely directed away from oil to solar.

he thing about taking a dollar from a potential oil purchase and using it to buy solar equipment is that the oil dollar is then lost forever. That purchaser will never again need to buy oil. What is baffling about this report is the sheer size of the uptick. Was there really 35GW of optional purchasing sitting on the sidelines? Sure, it's 35GW in aggregate, but that's still a very large increase. Even more surprising was that China mobilized that production almost instantaneously! 🧵 3/4
