Tried an extended route today, 33.9km. Absolutely lovely out, listening to Selling England By The Pound and swooshing through gorgeous countryside. I kept asking myself why I didn't do this years ago. Missed out on so much pleasure. Getting that bike was so absolutely the right thing to do.

Really if anyone is in the same state of mind I was in this time last year, and thinking about maybe getting back into cycling after many years, DO IT. If you're old like me and live in a hilly area, cheat and get an e-bike, it'll get you out there straight away and it's still brilliant exercise. It's SO GOOD for both your physical and mental health and it's just absolutely glorious on a nice summer day. Do it now while there's plenty of summer left. Best thing I've done in years. 🚴🦬
