Really if anyone is in the same state of mind I was in this time last year, and thinking about maybe getting back into cycling after many years, DO IT. If you're old like me and live in a hilly area, cheat and get an e-bike, it'll get you out there straight away and it's still brilliant exercise. It's SO GOOD for both your physical and mental health and it's just absolutely glorious on a nice summer day. Do it now while there's plenty of summer left. Best thing I've done in years. 🚴🦬

  • @llamasoft_ox@toot.wales I haven't bothered with an e-bike yet, but I do live at the foot of a hill. Have to say You Are Allowed To Cheat. Don't like cycling up the hill? Get off, push the bike, get back on at the top. Lovely ride today. Lambs gamboling around, squirrels, birdsong, there's frequently deer (but not today).

@llamasoft_ox@toot.wales when the gardening rush is over. That's my plan! My bike is sitting there waiting at the moment. I got out of it after breaking my ankle just under two years ago, and I've not got back into it yet. So every bit of motivation helps!

@llamasoft_ox@toot.wales I bought an ebike (specialized turbo vado 4 step through) last year. It is an absolute revelation and cycling is now the joyful experience that it was during childhood. You still get plenty of exercise but hills (think hill starts in particular) and manoeuvring in traffic (junctions and roundabouts) become trivial and oh the joy of modern brakes that work in the wet.
