I was heading back to my apartment in New York late last night, in a nearly empty subway car. A man dressed in workwear got on, carrying a set of tools including a large, heavy metal spike, flattened at one end. I nervously looked at this thing that could easily be a lethal weapon. He read my expression immediately: “I’m an iron worker, it’s a pry bar, we use it to make things fit when they don’t want to fit.” An iron worker. Carrying a full set of his tools on public transit. This man builds skyscrapers and takes the R train to work. Tell me why you need a lifted F-250 for your quarterly trip to Home Depot?

@eniatitova@sfba.social 95% of the time it's parked somewhere. 4.75% of the time I use it to haul my 150-200 lb meatsack around. 0.25% of the time I do truck stuff with it. It's indispensible.
