Just encountered a young (21) furry who messaged me out of the blue, I try to give people a fair shake if they reach out to me. Turned out they were studying linguistics and Japanese, both topics I have a casual amateur interest in, and then when I mentioned a book I hope to read in Japanese one day (吾輩は猫である(I am a cat)）they responded with "I have heard of it but I am not much of a bookworm" I didn't expect them to have read it, but it seems contradictory to me to be interested enough in Linguistics to study it at a university level, how can you NOT be a bookworm??? Perhaps people go through childhood not reading books now. I guess that was also said of people in my age bracket too :P
