@jd@ottawa.place I have a pseudo family member among in-laws who tells me he performed there (w/ Bruce Cockburn) back in the day. It was quite a mecca for the music scene of the era.

@ottaross@mastodon.social Among those I saw there: Joni Mitchell, Sonny Terry and Brownie McGee, Taj Mahal, Valdy. Those were the days!

  • @ottaross@mastodon.social @jd@ottawa.place In the early 70s I moved to London, Ont, from Montreal. There was a lovely place called Smale's Pace. Anyone in the folk scene in Canada went through there. I was at Fanshawe doing artsy stuff, and inveigled my way into videotaping shows there. The people were really welcoming. I had a spare bed in my place in London and was able to put a couple of musicians up who were going through, but didn't mind saving a buck or two. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Smale%27s_Pace
