@vga256@mastodon.tomodori.net I read halfway through on holiday a few weeks ago. Loving the book. I empathised from the first mention of a non centering joystick (for me on a BBC!).

@vga256@mastodon.tomodori.net @dosnostalgic@mastodon.social OH MY GOD that’s an amazing find. I bought one of those back when I was pestering my dad for an Adlib card. He saw the Sound Blaster and was like “this is cheaper and looks better”, and he was right. God, I wish I still had that original card!

@vga256@mastodon.tomodori.net in the early days I wished I could afford one, but I couldn’t. So I soldered a homebrew Covox together with a bunch of resistors. And then tried to find any game that would support it. Besides just playing MOD files I downloaded off BBSs.
