Well, we'll see how this goes.
I just contacted a grant writer. The grant is in the funding grey area, recommended for funding but it wasn't in the top 10% so with the current administration who knows.
PO suggested I get help with grant writing because the complaints all seemed to be that the reviewers misunderstood something--although I realize it could just be they just didn't like it that much.

The grant writer in question should be interesting to work with, assuming it works out with her schedule. She attended the same small, 350 person, high school as I did, and we ran track together, her little sister was one of my clique friends (it was the 80's cliques were a thing). She and I worked in the same undergrad lab, and then she went on to be an HHMI prof and AAAS fellow, but walked away from it for many reasons.
