I asked for $45 per fig, which feels like both not enough and too much. they said yes! it's only for 2 of them, so if I end up doing more of this work, I'll have photos of my skills to show off and a better idea of how much this work is worth to me. (also I'll know whether I'm fooling myself that my middle-aged eyes can handle it T_T)

@twistylittlepassages@weirder.earth certainly not less than your area's minimum hourly rate. how long is it going to take you?

@twistylittlepassages@weirder.earth do you have material costs eg. are they providing the figs or are you? is it totally custom in terms of what they can request or are you just asking for vibes and then doing what you want? will you accept revision requests? generally speaking, i’d figure out about how long i thought it would take and multiply that by a hourly price and then tweak up/downwards according to the above questions (down slightly for more artist freedom, up significantly for anything that might add to the time it takes to do)

@twistylittlepassages@weirder.earth so much of the stuff on etsy these days is super low quality, mass produced crap being passed off as unique, or both. and a lot of the rest is folks who have been crushed by capitalism into offering their labor for so much less than its worth.
