I'm wondering if one tactic of #ReformUK and their supporters is simply to try and disrupt local #government and services as much as possible (or at least let them stagnate), whilst putting the blame on the #Labour central government in the hope of a win in the #GeneralElection ? This would mean that having these sketchy candidates isn't a major loss (as they can always find someone else to replace them, and it doesn't matter if they are useless) https://www.itv.com/news/anglia/2026-05-11/reform-uk-councillor-accused-of-racist-posts-quits-days-after-election

@vfrmedia@social.tchncs.de itvwouldnt surprise me... And its also the sort of things I'd not be surprised other parties do, having seen close up some of the shenanigans in the labour party. The common good is nearly always at the expense of some twat's personal ambitions.

@vfrmedia@social.tchncs.de They wouldn't be the first party to deliberately screw up at least some aspect of local services so that they could blame it on central government. I was told (under Chatham House rule, so I can't give any information that might help identify the person who told me) that a particular Labour council had done this in respect of a particular service.
