@GoingDownWithSundial@mastodon.social Amazing blog post. Those negative voices we all have is a real bitch, I think it helps to know we all have them and knowing what they are, i.e. not actually who we are helps to keep them quietened down to a manageable level...mostly. And, when they do get the better of us, to not beat ourselves up about it.

@GoingDownWithSundial@mastodon.social Wow, I love how you describe your journey through all these very different stages, finding yourself, making peace with how you look and don't look like. I'm very happy that you managed to arrive where you are today :ablobcatheartsqueeze:

@GoingDownWithSundial@mastodon.social I (for fairly obvious reasons) have had (and still have) my fair bit of body issues (though never focused on size), and quite a few of the things you wrote about struck a cord with me. I've always been a picky eater (though my parents did an outstanding job accomodating me ❤️), and I haven't been very good at eating consistently, especially since moving out (probably mostly because I only notice that I need food when I start losing strength and get jittery from low blood sugar) I also found sharing pictures of my body online, especially in places like the fediverse, quite helpful for some of my body issues. I in particular always struggled with others seeing my body. Whether it was family members, doctors, friends, anyone seeing more than my fully clothed body was taboo. I'm not entirely sure how that happened, but it was pretty much from around when I gained awarness of my body to when I started actively fighting it (by violently breaking that taboo and posting nudes online). It was a big step, and maybe not the smartest thing to do, but it has given me so so so much more confidence and comfort with my body in interactions. Being able to be naked around people (without having a breakdown) sure has it's advantages :) Learning more and better ways to shut out the voices that tell you you need to change to accomodate some beauty standard, be they internal or external, is always a worthy endeavour.

@GoingDownWithSundial@mastodon.social thank you! You are an inspiration! My teenage daughter is also a very fussy eater; the bit about taking control is so like her (and a bit like me!) I will ask her to help me more often in the kitchen 😊

@GoingDownWithSundial@mastodon.social What a wonderful and beautiful glimpse into your soul, your heart, and your life. Thank you so much for that. I’ve really enjoyed reading your blog and love getting to know you better through it. Also, I’d love to know how I could specifically help you during tough times. P.S. If you’d like, I’d be happy to write to you in German and correct your mistakes. P.P.S. Gray streaks are so incredibly sexy 😘

@GoingDownWithSundial@mastodon.social Thank you for writing and for sharing this piece with us. I am really glad that you seem to have (mostly) made piece with how your body looks or how others might view it. And I fully agree that the bubble here on the Fediverse is amazing. I really like how many of us share intimate details in text or image, no matter how each of us looks or what personal issues we face.
