@GoingDownWithSundial@mastodon.social I (for fairly obvious reasons) have had (and still have) my fair bit of body issues (though never focused on size), and quite a few of the things you wrote about struck a cord with me.
I've always been a picky eater (though my parents did an outstanding job accomodating me ❤️), and I haven't been very good at eating consistently, especially since moving out (probably mostly because I only notice that I need food when I start losing strength and get jittery from low blood sugar)
I also found sharing pictures of my body online, especially in places like the fediverse, quite helpful for some of my body issues. I in particular always struggled with others seeing my body. Whether it was family members, doctors, friends, anyone seeing more than my fully clothed body was taboo. I'm not entirely sure how that happened, but it was pretty much from around when I gained awarness of my body to when I started actively fighting it (by violently breaking that taboo and posting nudes online). It was a big step, and maybe not the smartest thing to do, but it has given me so so so much more confidence and comfort with my body in interactions. Being able to be naked around people (without having a breakdown) sure has it's advantages :)
Learning more and better ways to shut out the voices that tell you you need to change to accomodate some beauty standard, be they internal or external, is always a worthy endeavour.

@la@horny.jetzt It really helps, if your parents are accomodating I think. I'm glad yours were. Forcing kids to eat just makes mealtimes stressful and unhappy. It takes a long time to break the association. Thank you for your honesty and sharing your journey here, I admire your bravery. > Learning more and better ways to shut out the voices that tell you you need to change to accomodate some beauty standard, be they internal or external, is always a worthy endeavour. Couldn't agree more.
