@IndyRichard@mastodon.scot @TCMuffin@toot.wales one of the first people I ever met from Yorkshire was very upset that we in the former colonies thought the English had failed us in WW2, and didn’t understand why we didn’t want them back after it. “We were busy also fighting a war in Europe. It’s not surprising that the Asia front was less important”

@IndyRichard@mastodon.scot @TCMuffin@toot.wales meanwhile they were defeated by Asian men riding bicycles. Japan wasn’t great, but they also didn’t sit around saying an inferior race isn’t going to be able to beat our naval strength.

The fact that they were there looking out to sea as the Japanese hacked their way through the jungle says it all. Percival had been stationed in Ireland in 1920-21 where he totally fucked up too. A complete clown.
