Every time I call my family to wish them happy birthday and have to leave a message, I get an invitation back to join WhatsApp. Anybody else sticking to their guns and not using that platform?

@Documentally@mastodon.social I have an account using a burner number/PAYG sim so use that when there’s no practical alternative for comms and I don’t give meta access to my contacts. Too many events and orgs are wed to using it these days to do fully without. I don’t use it for family, although have friends made through the aforementioned groups where it does now get used, albeit only by faux-me.

@Documentally@mastodon.social I am not that strong. The urge to talk to my fam is stronger than my hate of meta. So I have a WhatsApp account. The end. But the rest gets signal or bust
