@openrisk@mastodon.social Im talking about the growing luddite mindset of discontent. Its not only about Gen AI and AI data analysis. Its about any tech - the given perceived future of digitized life. This is not an inevitability, it is a choice. Its not really about unseeing anything, its about disempowering bigtech from its political power in society, for each person and for governments. Small tech, open tech, sovereign privacy tech - yes. But what is happening now is not that.

@DrPen@mastodon.social The Luddite stance is a negation. The more recent example being the claim that there is nothing intrinsically useful in "AI" (LLM's etc.) The alternatives you mention (small / open / sovereign etc.) are not Luddite, they are positive efforts to build something. They start with the assumption that socially beneficial use of digital technology is possible - its just not coming from the bigtech universe. We need more of those, in every digital area there is intrinsic usefulness. 2 cents
