The Luddite stance is a negation. The more recent example being the claim that there is nothing intrinsically useful in "AI" (LLM's etc.)
The alternatives you mention (small / open / sovereign etc.) are not Luddite, they are positive efforts to build something. They start with the assumption that socially beneficial use of digital technology is possible - its just not coming from the bigtech universe.
We need more of those, in every digital area there is intrinsic usefulness.

@openrisk@mastodon.social I think we are talking about the same thing >> Luddism is not about being against all technology (an innaccurate assumption), it is about being against damaging technology. And again, Im not only talking about "AI". Small tech is a great example of luddite approved tech - it is not damaging or extractive. It is home grown, independent and life-enhancing.
